Ho Tam's interest in bookmaking and publishing began in 1993 when he made his first artist's book The Yellow Pages.
In early 2010s after leaving his teaching position, Tam began working on a interview book with many Canadian artists which was published in Beijing, China. He also began helping artists in making books and zines and to distribute to an international audience.
In 2016, Tam established Hotam Press to focus on making his own publications again.
In June 2019, he opens Bookshop/Gallery which serves as a meeting and exhibition space for bookmaking and publishing activities.
